Dan and Lilian Majaducon and Victor and Maria Marshall were among five couples that were set aside by ordination to the gospel ministry on Sabbath June at Camp meeting in Prestatyn. In the devotional address Pastor Henry Wright said to the ordinands, "You are a part of the problem to which you have called to minister, only God could devise such a ridiculous paradox. You will never solve the paradox- you were born in sin and shapen in iniquity"

Pastor Wright gave seven points of counsel to the ordinands-
1. You have not been called because of your gifts but because of your need
2. God calls families- your wife is as much called as you are, Your husband will never ever be fully yours.
3. You have been called to sacrifice-
4. Called to go- don't get too comfortable in that house.Remember, You are not in the hands of the brethren but inn the hands of Jesus.
5.You have been Called to preach- it is an honour to preach but you cannot tell what you have not experienced.
6. You have been called in the context of the time- called to minister in a grand and awful time
7. Called out of the people-these are your members, you are a part of the people.
BUC President Don McFarlane gave the charge to the ordinands challenging them to be effective in their roles as leaders fathers and spouses. They were welcomed by the conference presidents followed by the address to the wives by Jenny Sweeney. Jenny challenged the wives to never forget that the "Blessings of ministry far outweighed the challenges." "Have a Christlike attitude," she continued, "Make your children your priority and Keep the focus- not on people or on you but on Christ."
The first ordinands, Dan and Lilian Majaducon originates from the Philippines, studied at the Mountain View College in the Philippines and served there in ministry for 4 years. He later served as a missionary for 2 years in Korea. Dan joined his wife Lillian in the UK in 2005 and worked in the service industry for some time. In December 2006 he was called into full time ministry serving in the Camp Hill district under the supervision of Jeff Nicholson for 18 month where he proved to be a very effective worker. He later took over responsibility for the Wolverhampton district before being relocated to the Newtown and Chelmsley wood churches. Dan now serves in the Wednesfield, Tipton and Dudley churches. Dan and Lilian have a two year old son Elijah and are revelling in the challenges and privilege of being in ministry.
The second couple set aside for Ordination were Victor and Maria Marshall. Victor hails originally from the lovely island of Barbados. Victor served for many years as a school teacher before being called to full time ministry. Victor began his service in the NEC in 2005 with Pastor Ian Sweeney in the Leeds district. He now serves in the Sheffield Bourngreave, Doncaster and Rotherham district.Victor is an avid writer and is the author of 2 books. Victor's ministry has demonstrated a calling to prayer which is reflected in his ministry to his local churches and the wider church family. He and Maria are parents to a son Josiah.
