Pray for Evangelistic Meetings in Rome

The evangelistic series in Rome is nothing less than amazing. I’m thankful that the leadership in Italy and at It Is Written early last year came together and boldly decided to do what most people would consider sheer insanity: an evangelistic series in the pope’s backyard. I mean literally. The series opens in a Catholic school’s auditorium and is located, as the crow flies, about five miles away from the Vatican . This series is, arguably, more important symbolically than any other series because by God’s grace we’re taking it to the “beast.” 100’s of converts in Rome is going to be such a boost to all hard working members, missionaries, pastors, and evangelists around the world. If it can be done in Rome , it can be done anywhere.
Obviously our enemy, Satan, is not going to let this happen without a fight. Let’s not forget that the enemy is very powerful, very crafty, very determined, and also very desperate because he knows he’s already lost the war. So here we are in Rome , 5 small churches with very dedicated wide-eyed church members and a bunch of very devoted yet inexperienced pastors in terms of public evangelism. Kinda scary, uh? But we have nothing to fear because the Almighty God is on our side. Praise God!
This e-mail to you is a passionate and heart-felt rallying call to you. As the battle for Jesus is intensifying here we need the cavalry. We need your prayers. We need your words of encouragement. You might not be able to be here in person, but through your prayers you are indeed here. Please pray for us. Pray for our beloved church members and pastors, pray for the advertising, pray for the people seeking and searching for something better in life that they will see the advertising and come to the meetings, pray for the hall and the equipment, pray that there will be no disruptions to our meetings, and, of course, pray for Shawn Boonstra.
In the Old West, when stranded travelers were under attack by Indians, the distant sound of the calvary’s bugle gave them courage and hope to keep fighting. We here need to hear the “calvary’s bugle.” Thus, I’m inviting you to share words of encouragement and support to the church members in Rome . Send me your e-mails and I will gladly and eagerly pass them on to your brothers and sisters in Christ in Rome . They will know that they are not alone but they have the prayer and support of people all around the world.
Before, I conclude this rather lengthy message, here are a few important facts. We are now 15 days from opening night. In 10 days Shawn Boonstra and his team of two arrive on location. Over the next two weeks we are blitzing the city of Rome with advertising. No hiding anymore. 800,000 flyers are being distributed home to home by church members. 5 radio stations will be doing 30 second spots. Buses and subways will have posters plastered all over. It’s happening. Game on. Rather, life and death on.
Thank you for reading this message. Please forward it to all who might care and be interested. These days people are so eager to forward mostly useless stuff (you know what I mean). This time, do forward a message that is far from useless, a plea from a little pastor in Rome who’s friends here (and me too) need to hear the bugle sound.
God bless you,
Yves Monnier
