What is Mental Health First Aid?
It is a 2 day training course that teaches how to recognise symptoms of mental health problems, how to deal with a crisis situation and how to spot the first signs of someone developing mental ill health. MHFA is a national training programme developed and regulated for the national institute of mental health in England

MHFA is a national training programme suitable for all individuals and employees interested in preserving life, promoting awareness of mental illness, reducing stigma and discrimination
Why should you do the training
People who are trained in Mental Health First Aid can help to:
- provide comfort to a person experiencing mental health problems
- provide help to prevent a mental health problem becoming more serious
- preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others
- promote the recovery of good mental health
- raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
- reduce stigma and discrimination about mental health
What is the training like?
The training uses a variety of adult learning methods so there is some group work and interactive exercises as well as video clips and some presentations
What does the training cover?
The training covers a range of topics relating to mental health including common mental health problems, the 5 steps of mental health first aid, depression, suicide, anxiety disorders, panic attacks and psychotic disorders
How?
MHFA is a 12 hour training programme over 2 days (9am – 5pm)

£30 per delegate
All participants, on completion of the 2 day course, will receive their MHFA manual and certificate of attendance
