Executive Administrative Team

President

Ian Sweeney

God called Pastor Ian Sweeney to the ministry when he was 12 years old and he has followed that calling ever since: "Being a pastor is all I know", says Ian. "I never imagined how exciting, uplifting and indeed challenging ministry would be when I entered pastoral ministry in 1989."

Whilst serving the Sheffield district, Ian received the London Times’ "Preacher of the Year" award in 1998. Since 2008 he has served the North England Conference as President as well as Public Affairs & Religious Liberties Director.

"I am proud to have served in this Conference as a Pastor, Evangelist and now Administrator." Ian’s greatest pride, however, is in working with the members of the North England Conference, who, in Ian’s words, are "among the most wonderful Christian people anyone could hope to meet."

Executive Secretary

Paul Haworth

Executive Secretary, Paul Haworth, was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire where he became a member of the Halifax Seventh-day Adventist Church after being baptised in Bradford at the age of 20. Previously, Paul was an agnostic who had been brought up in the Church of England faith.

Paul’s wife, Heather, who also works for the Church in the British Union Conference, moved to Halifax shortly afterwards as a Bible worker under Pastor A. Rodd. As Paul and Heather worked together in the church, the Lord impressed Paul that she was the one! They now have three children who are all married.

After 5 years at Newbold College Paul entered the ministry in 1983. He was elected to serve in his current position in 2006.

Executive Treasurer

Rejoice Kampengele

After leaving the banking sector, Rejoice Kampangele became an Auditor for the General Conference, and then Assistant Treasurer for the Trans European Division. In the T.E.D., Rejoice was primarily responsible for the division’s accounting function as well as the division-wide rollout of the new 'Sunplus' Accounting software. After briefly returning to the General Conference Auditing Service, Rejoice accepted the call to embark upon his current role as Executive Treasurer for the North England Conference, where he has served since 2008.

Believing himself to be a facilitator in God’s work, Rejoice’s vision is for the church to move toward the highest standard of accountability and transparency in all its operations.

In his spare time, Rejoice is a keen football fan and believes he will 'never walk alone'.
